About Clearwater Beach
Clearwater Beach is the barrier-island part of the City of Clearwater, linked to the mainland by the Memorial Causeway, which replaced the old drawbridge in 2005. The beach is known for Pier 60, named after State Road 60, which ends there, and the Beach Walk promenade completed in 2008.
Behind the hotels, the island's residential streets run down to the Intracoastal Waterway and Clearwater Harbor. To the south, a short bridge connects to Sand Key. Those bayside lots face the harbor rather than the open Gulf, which shapes the kind of wall damage owners see.
What Clearwater Beach seawalls are up against
Residential seawalls here are mostly on the harbor side and along small canals off the Intracoastal, many of them on narrow lots with docks and lifts. Boat wakes from the busy channel and storm surge pushing into the harbor both work on these walls.

- Leaning Seawall & Tieback Repair
Bayside walls that took surge in 2024 can show tieback strain, especially where lifts are mounted to the cap.
- Seawall Replacement
Some harbor-side walls on the island were too damaged to repair after the 2024 storms.
- Seawall Crack & Joint Repair
Wake action along the Intracoastal keeps working at panel joints between storms.
Plan around dock and lift hardware
Many bayside lots here have a lift or dock bolted to the wall cap. Ask any contractor to price detaching and reattaching that hardware up front, because it's often left out of first quotes on the island.
